Fantasy seems to be all the rage in the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards children’s categories, with Disney’s Elena of Avalor and Netflix’s The Letter for the King among the most nominated kids shows this year.

Netflix has walked away with the most kids programming nods (56 in total), and several of its fantasy series will vie for a win. Live-action adventure The Letter for the King got seven nominations—the second most of any kids show. The SVOD’s other top performers include Julie and the Phantoms (five nominations), Hilda (five), Tales of Arcadia: Wizards (four) and adventure series The New Legends of Monkey (two).

Disney was the second most-nominated platform, with 35 kids programming nods across its channels and Disney+. Elena of Avalor (pictured), about a princess who must learn to rule a kingdom, received eight nominations—the most for a single show.

Rounding out the top-five most-nominated platforms for kids programming were Apple TV+ (16), Nickelodeon (13) and HBO Max (12).

Perennial nominee Sesame Workshop dominated the shortlists and has 14 chances to win an Emmy. Flagship series Sesame Street received seven nominations, with four for Apple TV+ series Helpsters. Sesame’s CNN Town Halls, which tackled topics such as racism and coping with the pandemic, and The Power Of We: A Sesame Street Special each received two nominations. The Monster at the End of this Story: A Sesame Street Special for HBO Max and Sesame Street Special got a nod. And finally, Sesame Workshop’s Monster Meditations short video series on YouTube received a nomination.
