For the third consecutive year, Netflix leads the Emmy nomination pack, with 47 Daytime Emmy Award noms in the preschool, family and children’s categories.
Perennial kids classic Sesame Street, meanwhile, garnered the most nominations for a kids and family show with nine, followed closely by Sinking Ship Entertainment’s Dino Dana, which racked up eight nods. Combined with seven nominations for Odd Squad (co-produced with Fred Rogers Productions), the Toronto-based producer leads in series recognition for a Canadian children’s production company. Pittsburgh-based Fred Rogers Productions was also nominated for three awards for Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and five for Peg + Cat.
Disney, meanwhile, received the second-most nominations with 28, two more than its 2018 total. Amazon came third, but its 18 children’s nods is a significant drop from the 30 nominations it received last year.
Netflix’s series that brought in the most nominations include BBC co-pro Watership Down (pictured) with six noms, live-action sketch comedy The Who Was? Show (five); animated adventure-comedy Silvergate Media’s Hilda, Jib Jab Studio’s animated Ask the Storybots and DreamWorks Animation TV’s Tales of Arcadia: Trollhunters (four each); and holiday special Angela’s Christmas (three).
The 46th annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on May 5 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards Gala will be held on May 3 at the same location.
