Jetpack Distribution has acquired the rights to Flora, a new 2D-animated series in development at Birdo Studios in Brazil.

The 52 x 11-minute comedy takes kids into the world of a little seed named Flora, who is super-excited to blossom into a full-grown plant. Her journey comes with growing pains that are unique to her vegetative environment, whether it’s dealing with overly attached bees or discovering that sprouting spines isn’t the best party trick.

Aimed at four- to seven-year-olds, the series draws on comparisons to the botanical world to teach kids about self-discovery and the many emotions involved in growing up.

Flora will be introduced to the international market at Annecy next week, and Jetpack is looking for presales and co-production partners.

The London-based distributor has been very focused on expanding its global business lately, announcing several executive promotions at the beginning of the month in order to provide the right infrastructure for this kind of growth.

Sophie ‘Kido’ Prigent has moved up to global head of sales, with Gillian Calvert Ridge getting a bump to global distribution director of acquisitions and development.

Prigent will manage distribution in Asia, Canada, France, Latin America, Portugal, Spain and the Nordic region, as well as spearheading AVOD sales worldwide. And Ridge will drive acquisitions globally and manage sales in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Rhiannon Lyons has also been promoted to marketing and operations manager with an international remit. All three execs report directly to Jetpack CEO Dominic Gardiner.
