New York-based streamer and distributor FilmRise has hired former BBC Studios exec Jim Brown as its new director of digital distribution and programming.

Brown will be responsible for licensing FilmRise’s proprietary content and acquisitions to third-party AVOD and FAST platforms. Working with the company’s content sales team, he reports to Daniel Gagliardi, VP of digital distribution and business development.

Prior to joining FilmRise, Brown worked as director of content sales and distribution at BBC Studios, where he spent eight years selling content to AVOD, SVOD and linear platforms. Before that, he was director of operations for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he launched and managed the WWE Classics SVOD. Brown has also worked at Insight Communications, managing acquisitions and strategy for the On Demand platform.

FilmRise has been expanding its OTT channels and apps (FilmRise Kids and Rise Family) lately with acquisitions, including Yu-Gi-Oh! and WildBrain’s Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? and Slugterra.
