Following what might be the pinkest summer of all time, Robbie Brenner (pictured) was upped to president of Mattel Films earlier this week.

Based in LA, Brenner has been executive producer at the toyco’s movie division since she joined in 2018.

Under her leadership, Mattel Films is currently developing an IP-heavy slate of films based on popular in-house brands such as Polly Pocket, Hot Wheels, Barney and American Girl. All tolled, there are 14 live-action movies in active development, and the division is also working on a brand-new IP called Christmas Balloon for the big screen.

Brenner played a crucial role in steering the production of Barbie’s first-ever live-action film, which has become the highest-grossing movie of the year since its July 21 premiere, earning more than US$1.4 billion worldwide to date.

In a release, Mattel’s CEO and chairman Ynon Kreiz credited Brenner’s work in helping to grow and position the movie division as “a key partner for innovative creators, world-class talent, award-winning producers and major studios.”

A longtime producer in Hollywood, Brenner previously served in senior positions at studios including Miramax, 20th Century Fox and Relativity Media. She has a long list of credits on films such as romantic comedy Serendipity (2001), fairytale fantasy Mirror Mirror (2012) and Oscar-winning drama Dallas Buyers Club (2013).
