Sixteen South

The Coop Troop (pictured, 52 x 11 minutes) is about to land in some new territories, with ABC Australia, RTÉ (Ireland), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland) and Radio-Canada all acquiring the CG-animated series for five to nines. It premiered in May on France Télévisions and Globo (Brazil), and will air on Tencent Video in China next year. Belfast’s Sixteen South and Paris-based Mikros Animation co-produce the show, which is about a bunch of farm animals having some pretty zany adventures as they try to help the inhabitants of Animauville. The Coop Troop is Sixteen South’s first project for this age group, and also its first CG-animated series.

The Pokémon Company

BBC Children’s has acquired Pokémon Horizons: The Series to launch on iPlayer and CBBC in December. Horizons is a new Pokémon animated series, and it introduces new protagonists who are on a journey to become Pokémon trainers. It originally premiered in April on TV Tokyo (Japan). The Beeb picked up its first package of Pokémon content in 2021, when it acquired hundreds of episodes from the Pokémon series, plus eight feature-length movies.

Mediatoon Distribution

Argentina’s El Reino Infantil has acquired three animated series from Paris-based Mediatoon to air on its Latin American YouTube channel (60 million subscribers) in Spanish and Portuguese. The deal is for Bobby & Bill (52 x 12 minutes), featuring the adventures of young boy and his cocker spaniel and skateboarding turtle pets; Contraptus (78 x eight minutes), which follows a genius inventor; and seasons one and two of The Garfield Show (104 x 11 minutes).

IMC Toys

The Spanish toyco has signed a first North American deal with Disney for its flagship electronic doll brand Cry Babies, with a Minnie Mouse doll launching at Target in February, followed by a Stitch one at Walmart in May. The companies previously worked together four years ago to roll out a similar range in the UK.

IMC first launched its Cry Babies dolls, which make infant sounds and cry actual water, in 2016. To date, more than 1.35 million of them have sold through worldwide, according to industry research firm Circana.
