London’s Moonbug Entertainment has appointed Warner Bros. Discovery alum Yasmin Zahid (pictured) as its new head of distribution and brand partnerships in APAC.

Tasked with expanding Moonbug’s footprint in the region, Zahid will be responsible for growing the company’s channel and content syndication partnerships. Her remit also includes a focus on creating original content for key APAC broadcasters and streamers.

The hire continues Moonbug’s growing momentum in Asia; the company hired its first commercial director for Korea in May, and launched a linear channel in Malaysia and Indonesia in February.

Based in Singapore, Zahid officially steps into her new role on July 17, reporting to EMEA and APAC managing director Nicolas Eglau. She will replace Kelly Cooke, who is departing Moonbug after more than a year at the company.

With nearly three decades of sales experience in the region, Zahid’s familiarity with and knowledge of the APAC media markets made her the ideal choice to lead Moonbug’s growth there, according to a release.

Zahid has spent the last three years working as EVP and head of affiliate and B2B distribution at WBD (then WarnerMedia), overseeing the launch of HBO GO across Asia during the pandemic. Prior to that, she was with HBO Asia for 25 years, rising up the ranks since joining in the mid-’90s to eventually become head of sales and affiliate marketing.
