2010  Michael Clyne Prize for the best research thesis in the area of bilingualism and language contact – jointly awarded by the Australian Linguistic Society and the Applied Linguistics Association of Australia – $1000 prize plus funding to present at either conference.

2008 & 2009        UPA (University Postgraduate Award) Scholarship – Co-funded by the University of Sydney and DEEWR ($26,000 per year for 2 years = $52,000).

2008   Trevor Miller Memorial Fund Scholarship – Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney – in support of travel to present a paper at the AILA Conference 2008 (Germany).

2007       ALAA (Applied Linguistics Association of Australia) Travel Scholarship – Travel and Conference costs to present at their conference (Wollongong).

2003  Goethe Institut Teachers’ Scholarship- Travel, Course and Living costs to attend a German language course in Germany for two months.

  • 2018 Department of Education NSW Grant to explore the transition and continuity experiences of children graduating from bilingual (CLIL) programs – $7500
  • 2015 Department of Education and Communities NSW Grant to explore language and content assessment in four primary school CLIL programs in NSW, with Prof L Harbon (UTS) – $44,000
  • 2014 Association of Independent Schools NSW Grant to research successful languages programs – $14,500
  • 2014 Department of Education and Communities NSW Grant for Research in Four NSW Bilingual Programs – $30,000 co-funded with A/Prof L Harbon.
  • 2012  – International Program Development Fund Grant part of the World Universities Network; University of Sydney – $6385
  • 2011/2012 Faculty Research Grant – $21,000 with A/Prof Harbon to research in 4 bilingual primary schools and research with the pre-service primary language teachers.
  • 2011  Teaching Inquiry Grant  – $6,000 with A/Prof Harbon and Ms Steigrad to investigate current teaching.
