Looking For

  • Cecilia Persson’s current focus is on Boomerang, with an emphasis on visual humor at a slightly younger entry point. Previously, she leaned towards for squash-and-stretch content targeted younger demos, but now Boomerang is on the hunt for something softer and less frenetic to differentiate its slate from Cartoon Network.

    Cartoon Network, meanwhile, is looking for creator-driven animated comedies that appeal to the six to 12 set. This content should feature equal parts humor and heart, and be surprising and irreverent.

    Persson* doesn’t want to be too prescriptive, saying she is open to the unknown and willing to field any new ideas (though she isn’t likely to greenlight anything live-action or educational). Additionally, the team wants to get in on the ground floor of new properties in order to shape the content.

    *Cecilia Persson left the broadcaster in December. WarnerMedia has yet to comment on its replacement plan for Persson’s role, but senior manager of acquisitons Zia Bales was promoted in Janaury with co-pros added to her remit.
