Alyssa Cooper Sapire has been appointed VP of programming for children and family entertainment at FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the brand extension arm of FremantleMedia.

Based in Los Angeles, Sapire will report to SVP of children and family entertainment Bob Higgins, who is based in New York. In this newly created role, Sapire will work with Higgins to grow FME’s global children’s and family franchises.

Sapire is coming off a 10-year stint at Nickelodeon, where she oversaw series and multiplatform projects including Gigantic, The Assistants, The Best Years, O’Grady and Play With Me Sesame. Prior to Nickelodeon, she helped launch Scholastic’s new media business and developed a multiplatform brand for The Walt Disney Company.

Spire joins FME as the company establishes a new model for the creative development, acquisition, production, and distribution of content in the children’s and family entertainment space. FME is concentrating on programming that will target demographics ranging from preschool through high school while continuing to expand its global portfolio.
