WildBrain has inked three new distribution deals with Amazon, loading up the e-commerce giant’s VOD platforms with more than 850 episodes of kids content from its considerable portfolio.

Prime Video cherry-picked a total of 218 episodes to launch in Germany, including 90 eps of  WildBrain’s 2017 live-action Teletubbies series (90 x 15 minutes), as well as two seasons (14 and 15) and three 60-minute specials of the Mattel/Wildbrain co-pro Fireman Sam (52 x 11 minutes). The deal also includes Cartoon Saloon’s 2D-animated comedy Dorg Van Dango (52 x 11 minutes) and season one of Shaftesbury’s live-action drama Ruby and the Well (10 x 60 minutes).

In the US, Amazon has picked up a package of 132 episodes for its Amazon Kids+ SVOD. It encompasses the first two seasons of WildBrain’s 2D-animated preschool series Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City (80 x four minutes) and season four and five of WildBrain/Mattel’s Polly Pocket series (26 x 11 minutes). WildBrain also sold Amazon a CG-animated film called Ghost Patrol (2016) from Vancouver-based Eh-Okay Entertainment, along with MiMO Studios’ live-action feature The Kid Who Only Hits Homers (2021).

Last month, WildBrain signed its biggest Degrassi deal ever, sending more than 400 episodes from the long-running tween/teen drama franchise to Prime Video in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Representing the most Degrassi content that has ever been available on a SVOD, the acquisition includes the first three seasons of Degrassi Junior High (42 x 30 minutes), seasons one and two of Degrassi High (28 x 30 minutes) and all 14 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation (385 x 30 minutes).
