French studio Millimages has promoted general secretary Adrien Moretto to general manager, a newly created position in its executive ranks.

In this key leadership role, he will develop strategies for franchise growth by mapping out new content and securing more licensees. His team in Paris will focus on expanding IPs into multi-platform brands

Millimages has produced popular kids toons like 64 Rue Du Zoo and Corneil & Bernie, but its biggest hit in recent years is Molang. This animated preschool series about a friendly bunny airs in 190-plus countries and has spawned 950 consumer products to date from more than 80 licensees. It also serves as a blueprint for the company’s transmedia plans.

Millimages expanded Molang in June with a YouTube-first series called Molang & Piu Piu YouTubers, in which the characters engage in typical influencer activities such as playing video games, filming morning routines and reacting to funny/scary clips. It has really taken off on the AVOD platform, where episodes collectively generated four million views two weeks post-launch.

Moretto is looking to replicate this success with Millimages’ other brands. And he’s equipped to do it since he’s now leading all departments at the company, including production, sales, licensing and digital.

Moretto joined Millimages in 2018, initially heading up legal and business affairs. During his tenure, he has secured funding for many of the studio’s productions, including seasons five and six of Molang and the second season of Pirata & Capitano.
