Netflix has picked up seasons three and four of CG-animated series ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, a co-pro from Bagdasarian Productions and Mikros Animation. The platform will start streaming these new eps in Q3 everywhere except the US, LatAm, Germany, France, China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. It also renewed its license for the first two seasons, meaning it now has 260 11-minute episodes of the show in its library.

Sandbox Kids

Romanian VOD platform AntenaPLAY has inked a deal for a package of preschool content from Hopster, Sandbox & Co.’s kids SVOD platform. The buy includes series such as Clever Brenda (education), Louie (art tutorials), Sunny Bunnies Get Busy (crafts) and Pocoyo Nursery Rhymes (music), and it marks the first time AntenaPLAY has acquired any animated kids content.

Viva Kids

LA-based Viva Kids (200% Wolf) has steered into a North American distribution deal  for CG-animated feature Rally Road Racers, which will roll out in 1,500-plus US theaters on May 12. London’s Riverstone Pictures produces the family-friendly flick about a bunch of animals competing to win a prestigious car race. Riverstone’s Nik Bower produced the movie with Deepak Nayar (Kintop Pictures) and John Williams (Vanguard Animation).

Coolabi

Short-lived ’70s series Bagpuss is making a plush comeback. Coolabi has tapped the UK’s Rainbow Design to make a new range of soft toys (pictured) based on the old cloth cat at the heart of the 13-episode toon, which was produced by British prodco Smallfilm for a BBC premiere in 1974. Rainbow Design’s line is due out at retail in the UK this fall or winter.

Guinness World Records

US streamer Atmosphere and Guinness World Records have launched a first-ever OTT channel devoted to the “record-breaking” brand this month. Aimed at families, Guinness World Records TV features content from production arm GWR Studios, including Guinness World Records: Gone Viral, which highlights people setting weird new records. Atmosphere operates a whole portfolio of OTT kids channels, including Angry Birds, On Nom TV and Super Toonz TV.
