French broadcaster Gulli and Discovery Kids LatAm have signed a deal to co-produce a brand-new seventh season of Zodiak Kids’ long-running 2D-animated series Totally Spies!

The original show, which followed three Beverly Hills friends balancing high school and international espionage, had a six-season run between 2001 and 2013. Premiering in 2023, season seven will see secret agents Sam, Clover and Alex move to a new city and face off against a fresh crop of villains.

Zodiak Kids CEO Benoit Di Sabatino is producing; Stephane Berry, who directed five previous seasons of the show, is back in the director’s seat; and development is being spearheaded by Zodiak Kids head of development Gary Milne.

Pre-production work on the 26 x 22-minute season will be done by Zodiak Kids and Family Studio France, which is owned by European production powerhouse Banijay. Zodiak has also partnered with Ollenom, a new prodco set up by Banijay’s recently acquired French animation studio Monello Productions. Zodiak Kids and Family Distribution will handle global distribution for the new season.

To date, Totally Spies! has aired in more than 190 territories and generated 300 million viewing hours and 1.8 billion views on streaming platforms, according to a release.
