It’s back to Good Burger (“Home of the Good Burger!”) for Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount+.

The streamer has greenlit a sequel to the 1997 live-action comedy film, with lead actors Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell (pictured) set to reprise their roles. The duo starred in the original as Dex and Ed, two teenage fast-food workers who save the titular burger joint from failing.

Good Burger 2 picks up more than two decades later as the characters reunite and manage a new crew at the fast food restaurant. The family feature will begin production this spring and is slated to launch in late 2023.

Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (Good Burger) will pull double duty as writers and executive producers on the sequel while Phil Traill (The Middle) will direct. James III (Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan) is also on board as a writer.

For Nick Studios, Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin (co-heads of live action for Nickelodeon & Awesomeness) will oversee production and Brittany Cope will serve as executive in charge of production.

The idea for Good Burger originated on the classic kids sketch comedy series All That, which aired on Nickelodeon from 1994 to 2005 and later revived for new episodes in 2019. The series featured a segment starring Mitchell as a clueless cashier at a fast food restaurant.

Good Burger 2 joins a batch of other nostalgic Nick properties that are returning with sequels and reboots, including Zoey 101 and The Thundermans
