HBO Max to pull more kids and family titles

The service is cutting a long list of animated and live-action series for younger viewers as it continues to restructure its programming ahead of Warner Bros. Discovery's super-streamer launch next year.

HBO Max is preparing to cut up to 36 more shows, many of which live in its kids and family lineup.

The titles will leave the platform this week, and they include kids animated series Little Ellen, Mia’s Magic Playground, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Dodo, Summer Camp Island, Mighty Magiswords, Esme & Roy, Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, Elliott from Earth, The Fungies!, Messy Goes to OKIDO, Infinity Train, The Ollie & Moon Show, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, Tig n’ Seek, Victor and Valentino, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures,Squish, Odo, Uncle Grandpa and the special The Runaway Bunny.

On the live-action front, kids and family titles such as Theodosia, Detention Adventure and Make It Big Make It Small are leaving the streamer, along with The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo (pictured) and select Sesame Street specials.

Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced plans to combine its two SVODs into a single service, which is slated to launch in 2023. This news followed the confirmation by Kidscreen in early August that HBO Max plans to shift away from live-action kids content.

Earlier this week, WBD also laid off nearly 70 staffers from HBO and HBO Max as a part of ongoing restructuring.
