Toon2Tango’s curriculum-driven comedy Hey Fuzzy Yellow! is moving forward with a new co-producer and financial partners on board.

LA-based Curiosity Ink Media (Aloha Hoku) has acquired an equity stake in the property and will co-produce it and oversee global distribution. The series is scheduled to go into production later this year. Toon2Tango has also received US$541,000 in funding for the toon from Creative Europe, a European Commission program set up to support the region’s media sector.

Swedish artist and creator Måns Swanberg teamed up with Toon2Tango to develop the project, which was first pitched at Cartoon Forum in 2020.

The 52 x 11-minute edutainment series is designed to appeal to preschoolers and millennial parents, featuring colorful characters with fuzzy appearances and tackling topics like social-emotional learning, art, logic and music.

Hey Fuzzy Yellow! marks the third collaboration between Germany’s Toon2Tango and Curiosity Ink. They have also been working together on upcoming animated series Baldwin’s Big Adventure and a CG-animated Christmas special called Santa.com.

Darren Marks, CEO of Grom Social Enterprises (Curiosity Ink’s parentco), tells Kidscreen that the show’s creative/educational elements and co-viewing potential made it a lucrative investment opportunity. “When you blend the show’s imaginative approach, funny storylines, great songs and life lessons [in] a series parents will gladly watch with their kids, we knew we wanted to be a part of its success.”
