Cleveland Ohio-based prodco Wada Wada Entertainment is bringing its CG-animated series Weird Waters to the big screen in a 90-minute feature film that should hit theaters in early 2025.

LA’s Lunchbox Labs is co-producing the pic, which targets kids ages five and up with a story that swims along with three fish who solve mysteries and learn about hidden secrets in a magical pond.

Joshua Staman, who writes on the Weird Waters series, is also penning the film’s script. Animator Salem Arfaoui (Despicable Me) is directing, and YouTube celeb Like Nastya (107 million subscribers)—known for her videos in which she plays games with her friends and family—will voice one of the main characters.

New York’s Meticulous Media and South Carolina’s Moondog Animation Studio are Wada Wada’s co-producers on the Weird Waters series, which has two seasons in the can (20 x seven minutes). Peacock and The Roku Channel premiered the show in the US in early 2022.

Worldwide distributor 9 Story Distribution International has sold Weird Waters to international broadcasters including Discovery+ (Latin America), Tubi TV (Canada) and Ketchup TV Kids Channel (the UK, Ireland and Australia).

Building on the series’ popularity, Wada Wada signed a fitting licensing deal last year with San Francisco-based fish food retailer Hikari to launch a range of branded aquarium kits, food and accessories in the US.
