Sesame Workshop has partnered with family-friendly social media brand The Dodo to launch a new scripted digital series for preschoolers. Families for Furry Friends pairs Sesame Street Muppets with the heartwarming animal stories The Dodo is famous for.
Sponsored by Target, this project marks Sesame Workshop’s first pet-focused content partnership. It was inspired by recent special Furry Friends Forever: Elmo Gets a Puppy (accompanying toy pictured), and will see Elmo, his puppy Tango and Cookie Monster working at an animal shelter in New York to help pets find their forever homes.
The first episode dropped yesterday, with new ones scheduled to launch on September 30 and October 14. All three will be available on The Dodo’s family entertainment destination Family Room, as well as on The Dodo, Dodo Kids and Sesame Street YouTube channels.
This isn’t the first younger-skewing content project for The Dodo, which already has a series called Izzy’s Koala World on Netflix and a collection of kid-focused Sleep Stories available on the Calm app. Earlier this year, The Dodo rolled out a Dodo Kids app and the Family Room entertainment destination with a focus on co-viewing.
In recent Sesame Workshop news, the non-profit inked a deal with audio entertainment company Tonies in August to launch new Elmo and Cookie Monster figures that activate music- and food-centric audio content on the Toniebox smart speakers.
