Channel 5 is adding a dash of STEM and a whole lot of Sesame to its Milkshake! recipe this spring.

The British broadcaster has picked up CG-animated series Sesame Street Mecha Builders, which will make its UK debut in Five’s Milkshake! preschool block with all of its supporting characters speaking with a British accent in order to appeal to local viewers.

The 52 x 11-minute series is a co-pro between Sesame Workshop and Toronto-based Guru Studio (True and the Rainbow Kingdom).

Mecha Builders features popular Sesame Street characters like Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Cookie Monster reimagined as high-tech robots who use science-based superpowers to introduce preschoolers to concepts such as force, machines and the properties of matter.

The series debuted in the US last year on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Cartoonito preschool programming block and streaming platform HBO Max. It also airs on Canadian linear channel Treehouse TV.
