Netflix has made a two-season commitment to a pair of new CG-animated preschool series from DreamWorks Animation—Not Quite Narwhal (pictured) and Dew Drop Diaries are both slated for launch in 2023.

Not Quite Narwhal is based on a same-name book by Jessie Sima that Kidscreen recently wrote about as a hot TV adaptation prospect. Targeting kids ages three to seven, it dives into the daily adventures of a narwhal named Kelp, who discovers he’s part-unicorn and must learn to navigate life in the sea and on land. Brian Roberts, Nakia Trower and Sarah Katin are executive producing.

Meanwhile, Dew Drop Diaries pulls back the curtain on a group of pint-sized fairies who have been assigned to help city-dwelling human families with tasks such as organizing toys and placing lost teeth under pillows for the Tooth Fairy. Writer/producer Rick Suvalle (Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go!) created the series concept and is executive producing with Aliki Theofilopoulos (Doug Unplugs).

In other Netflix news, the SVOD has ordered an additional 20 episodes of DreamWorks’ popular preschool series Gabby’s Dollhouse, which is co-created and executive produced by Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey. A fourth season of the show launched on February 1.
