Jetpack has closed a bunch of new sales in Latin America and the Caribbean to several leading broadcasters that are banking on fresh animation to keep their audiences tuned in.

NBCUniversal has acquired pay-TV, SVOD and catch-up rights to season one of Boj—which revolves around an Australian marsupial trying to solve problems in his neighborhood—from Pesky Productions, Kavaleer Productions and Cloth Cat Animation, as well as the first and second seasons of Yoko (pictured) and movie special Yoko and His Friends. This CG-animated series about three kids who love to play outside is produced by Somuga and Dibulitoon Studio in Spain and Russia’s Wizart Animation.

Also joining NBCUniversal’s LatAm/Caribbean lineup are seasons one and two of Samka Productions’ animated series Jamie’s Got Tentacles (featuring a young prince from another planet who escapes to Earth) and seasons one, two and three of Herschend Entertainment Studios’ Chuggington

Meanwhile, Disney Channels Latin America has scooped up exclusive pay-TV/catch-up rights to Holiday Hill Enterprises’ animated film Spookley the Square Pumpkin—about a banished pumpkin’s attempts to rejoin his community—and spinoff special Spookley and the Christmas Kittens. (Disney also bought non-exclusive rights for the Caribbean.) A release with information on other deals it signed in the region is available on Jetpack’s website

Jetpack is also looking to pick up domestic content from the LatAm region to appeal to the buyers it sells to there, says global head of sales Sophie Prigent. “We’re on the lookout for more local content from the whole continent. Creativity and talent in Latin America is as deep as the diversity of its cultures.”
