Kristy ScanlanLA-based service studio Saffronic has hired former Technicolor exec Kristy Scanlan as SVP of business development.

Saffronic opened its doors last June to provide animation and video game development services, and it’s currently working on DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse, Dragons:The Nine Realms and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Other clients include WildBrain and Trioscope, and the busy studio set up an Indian production facility last month to handle animation, compositing and rendering.

Scanlan started in her new role last week and is in charge of building out Saffronic’s client roster and pipeline. A studio spokesperson told Kidscreen the company is open to co-producing projects, but it’s not interested in creating original content at this time.

Scanlan’s CV includes a recent SVP role at Vancouver-based Mainframe that she took on in 2022 after a 10-year career at Technicolor overseeing animation, video games and service. Prior to that, she was head of production for a decade at Santa Monica-based Threshold Entertainment, where she produced feature films Bionicle: The Legend Reborn, Lego: The Adventures of Clutch Powers and Hero Factory: Savage Planet
